Born August 30, 1951 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He studies at the Neptalí Rincón Art School in Maracaibo. From 1970 up to the present day he has shown his paintings in a number of national salons in both individual and collective exhibitions and art fairs in his country and abroad: Colombia, Peru, Brazil, El Salvador, Uruguay, Mexico, United States, Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Portugal, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, China and Japan. In 1986 he attends the Venice Biennial. His works have been auctioned several times by Sotheby’s in New York.

Carmelo Niño has been granted significant distinctions and appointments. His work is represented in the most important national museums, ministries and embassies, as well as in private and public collections in South, Central and North America, Europe and Asia.
